On Saturday I made mincemeat for the mince pies I will make next month. The first time I ever made mincemeat was with Kathy. I'm not sure if it was the first time she had made it, but she let me provide the recipe. I had found it in Good Food magazine and it combined cranberries - a flavor from home - with the traditional ingredients. This little memory sums up one of the things I love about Kathy: her zest for life and openness to trying new things.
